In only its second full year of racing, Team ReserveAid is an official charity partner of an established triathlon, the Patriot Half. The circumstances of how the collaboration came to be is an interesting one to say the least. In 2011, a plethora of Team ReserveAid athletes took to southeast Massachusetts to race the Half Ironman distance triathlon – a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run – as a stepping stone to Ironman Louisville. One team member in particular, Jess Withrow, had a more than memorable race, landing in the E.R. after crashing during the bike leg. Concerned race director, Mark Walter, reached out to Jess, and after a few discussions with her and husband, John Withrow, the partnership was born.
Team ReserveAid rallied the troops and represented in astounding fashion sending 20 athletes to the compete in 2012 event. If we weren’t the largest team presence there we were close to it!
